Denali Park Tours
Private vehicles are not
allowed on national park roads past the visitor center. All of our
packages and itineraries that include a visit to Denali National Park also
include a full day tour based on the number of hours available on the
specific day of the visit. In most cases we include a Full Day Tour
to Wonder Lake as part of our packages. This full day tour starts
early in the mooning, usually between 6AM and 8AM and returns 10-12 hours
later. We include this tour in our packages because this is the most
comprehensive opportunity for viewing wildlife and seeing the mountain.
When your time frame is shortened we include the longest possible tour
for the hours you have available.
This tour takes
place on the National Park Transportation System. The system uses
remodeled school bus style touring busses. Your drivers are
energetic and knowledgeable. They know their tip is measured by the
wildlife and scenic opportunities they present and they do a great job.
There are rest area stops several times during the tour. You should
plan to bring along a lunch and plenty of bottled water and beverages.
There are no services available along the tour route. A small
convenience mart is located at the visitor center.
If you are unwilling to make such a large time commitment
or would prefer an alternative choice, we offer the following:
Half Day Tour - This is the same style of
tour as noted above but usually only lasts 6-8 hours. The price of your package will decrease by about $20 per
person. Upgrade to Custom
Tour Bus with Lunch - This tour is the most popular tour chosen by
tour groups and the cruise line companies. It takes place on a
little nicer bus with more comfortable seats. A box lunch is
included. The tour is twice daily, once in the morning and once in
the afternoon. It usually lasts between 6 and 8 hours. The
cost of this tour will increase your package about $60 per person.
Ultimate Full Day Tour - This is the tour for those folks who want the ultimate Denali Park
Experience. This is a full day narrated exploration along the Denali
Park Road to Denali Backcountry Lodge in Kantishna, returning to the
Denali Park entrance in the evening. This trip into Denali National Park
travels the entire length of the restricted 95-mile Denali Park Road to
Kantishna in our private bus. Your trained naturalist Guide/Driver
provides natural history interpretation along the way, helping guests
search for bears, moose, caribou and other wildlife while pointing out the
biology and geology of the region. It stops along the way for photography
and take several rest stops where guests can stretch their legs. Snacks,
drinks and lunch are provided.
Lunch is served at exclusive Denali Backcountry Lodge in Kantishna.
Dietary restrictions are accommodated with advance notice, and there is
always a vegetarian option. Lunch consists of a sandwich bar, soups,
fruits, snacks, fresh baked goods and drinks.
Activities in Kantishna with a trained guide are available after lunch.
Try your luck at gold panning near the lodge, or take a guided nature walk
to Fannie Quigley's historic pioneer cabin, which was recently restored by
the National Park Service.
Choosing this option will increase the cost of most packages by about $90
per person. |
