Living Anchorage's "Big Wild Life"

Horseback Riding

Anchorage - Swing into the saddle for a guided Horseback Riding in Alaska into the Chugach Mountains surrounding Turnagain Arm and Anchorage, Alaska.  Hourly, half-day, and full day tours.

Cooper Landing - Deep in the mountains of the Chugiak National Forest on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula lies a small lodge, Alaska Horsemen Trail Adventures. Owner Alex Kime, with the help of his daughter Gretchen started the lodge in 1997 with 8 horses. Today they have grown to over 30 horses and are well known as one of the best horseback rides in Alaska. Specializing in "true Alaskan hospitality", folks comment on the serenity they experience at the lodge. Their care of the horses and the "pioneer" appearance of the lodge has gained them television spots on such shows as Country Music Television’s show "Hit Trip", Fox Television's "Bacheloretts in Alaska", Larry Csonka's "North to Alaska Show" and Paul Gray's "The Alaska Show". Alaska Horsemen Trail Adventures was chosen "Outstanding Business in Tourism" on the Kenai Peninsula for 2002.

In addition to offering a variety of trail rides year around including carriage and sleigh trips, they offer a small unique gift shop selling furs, gold, and locally crafted items. They offer a gold panning experience designed in the fashion of the Alaskan pioneer days. A beautiful log pavilion and fire pit for special occasions and horse boarding is available for the traveler. Folks are welcome to browse around and enjoy the baby horses they have every spring.

Seward - Down the river to the shores of Resurrection Bay. This area of Seward is only accessible by horse back. View bald eagles up close, see where they nest and watch them feed. It is rare that you can't ride your horse right under the trees where they majestically perch. We will ride through part of the old town of Seward that was destroyed by the great earthquake of 1964. You will hear the stories of the people who lived through it. Our horses will then take us to the shore of the bay where the wild flowers meet the ocean. The bird life of this area is very diverse, active and up close. This Trail Ride could very well be the wilderness highlight of your trip to Seward and Alaska.

Denali - Our vendor is a horseback outfit offering guided "trail"  rides and overnight trips in the wilderness area surrounding Denali National  Park. We use the term "trail ride" loosely around here.  Your safari  begins at our home and place of business located at Mile 3.9 Stampede Road in Healy. This historical road once known as the Stampede trail from the Gold and Antimony strikes, was one of the first roads into Denali National Park.

All of our rides offer stunning panoramic views of the Alaska Range and the  surrounding  Healy Valley from start to finish. Denali National Park surrounds us on three sides, but we are unable to ride into the park. We are the only   horseback outfitter in Denali with views of Mt. McKinley on our 1/2 day and  longer rides. Our experienced staff takes you on a journey traveling up 3200 feet in elevation with breathtaking views of the entire area.
