Halibut Cove
Halibut Cove is a little jewel tucked away in Alaska's
first state park, Kachemak Bay State Park. The park area is a total of
400,000 acres of mountains, glaciers, forests, coastline and ocean.
Visitors frequently observe sea otters, harbor seals, porpoise, and a
variety of whale species.
Halibut Cove welcomes the many visitors it
hosts each and every year, but at the same time makes every effort to
ensure that Halibut Cove remains the beautiful, quiet paradise it has
become famous for. Residents are a close-knit community and value their
peace and their privacy. Halibut Cove is a living experience like no other
and I am sure any of the residence will confirm that statement!!!
Seldovia
Of all the Kachemak communities, only
Seldovia spans the centuries and crosses the cultures. Eskimo, Aleut,
Indian, Russian, Scandinavian, German, and many other peoples congregated
in Seldovia, providing a rich and varied heritage that still survives.
Most were seafaring peoples and they oriented themselves to the water,
geographically and economically.
Day Tour
Our day tour starts off with a water
taxi ride from the Homer Spit. Arriving in Halibut Cove you will
have three hours to stroll the streets, take a nature hike, or enjoy a
great lunch in one of the many artistically significant restaurants.
Following your visit to Halibut Cove, board a whale watching excursion to
Seldovia. In Seldovia spend the rest of the day exploring this
quaint piece of Alaskan history. Your late afternoon return will be
by cruise boat.
